John Sexton: Reflections on Nature in Black and White 
New photography exhibition presents twelve stunning, large-format, black-and-white images of nature by a master of the genre
 

SAN FRANCISCO -- January 3, 2014 - It is light that reveals, light that obscures, light that communicates. It is light [that] I listen to. The light late in the day has a distinct quality, as it fades toward the darkness of evening. After sunset there is a gentle leaving of the light, the air begins to still, and a quiet descends. I see magic in the quiet light of dusk. I feel quiet, yet intense energy in the natural elements of our habitat. A sense of magic prevails. A sense of mystery-It is a time for contemplation, for listening-a time for making photographs.

Photographer John Sexton, a contemporary master of large-format, black-and-white photography, is best known for his luminous, alluring images of nature. Sexton was inspired by the work of legendary photographer Ansel Adams, whom he served as technical and photographic assistant in 1979, and as technical consultant in the early 1980s. Adams inspired Sexton to forego a career as a commercial photographer to practice the more creative and personally rewarding pursuit of photography as a personal statement. Reflections on Nature in Black and White features twelve images personally selected by the artist for exhibition at SFO Museum.

Reflections on Nature in Black and White by photographer John Sexton is located prior to security screening in Terminal 2, Departures Level, San Francisco International Airport. The exhibition is on view to all airport visitors from December 2013 to February 28, 2014. There is no charge to view the exhibition.
