Pan Am Firsts: The John T. McCoy Watercolors
Reproduced in great numbers on in-flight menus and promotional materials by Pan American World Airways for many years, these are among the best known commercial aviation illustrations ever created. Artist John T. McCoy was commissioned by the airline beginning in the 1960s to commemorate its milestone achievements from the first scheduled flight in 1927 through the era of the flying boats and post-war propliners to the introduction and accomplishments of the jet age. The thirteen original watercolor paintings are on view in this special exhibition.View information for other exhibitions and events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the opening of trans-Pacific air service by Pan American Airways' China Clipper.
