Werner Klotz was born in Bonn, Germany and came to the Bay Area in 1991. Much of Klotz’s work is inspired by how sight functions, for instance how images are received into the brain and ordered there. This has inspired a number of artworks that Klotz calls “optical instruments,” artworks designed to engage the viewer in reflection about the process of seeing.
When your movement activates Anemone, you will see yourself over and over, reflected and then rotated in a meditative experience of self-reflection.
