Arriving international passengers waiting to have their passports checked encounter eleven rectangular columns with cast glass panels mounted on each side. While the cast glass on the front has a smooth finish, the back is cast into a serrated shape. Behind the serrated cast glass is a matching acrylic panel featuring vinyl letter text that says “Welcome” in different languages. The serrated layers create an optical illusion that the words disappear as the viewer walks by.
